These Frank Lloyd Wright-Inspired Rugs Are Our Dream Splurge
Some people dream of buying a fancy car when they've made it big. Others might dream of buying a house. But us? We're dreaming about these Frank Lloyd Wright–inspired rugs from Classic Rug Collection, Inc.
Designer Barbara Barran founded the company in 1999 and has designed multiple collections based on her favorite artists and architects, including Frank Lloyd Wright, who inspired her latest series. The collaboration between Barran and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation takes inspiration from Wright's rug designs but also from his "motifs for ceilings, windows, perforated wooden panels, concrete blocks, and various geometric drawings," according to a press release.
The real splurge is the Frank Lloyd Wright Signature Series, which comprises five rugs and two runners — all handmade, of course — inspired by houses built by the architect, from the Hollyhock House in Los Angeles to the Robie House in Chicago. They can be made with custom colors and materials, starting at $169 per square foot. The standard rug size is six feet by nine feet, for a total of $9,126. There's also a more affordable line, called the Usonian Collection, featuring floor cloths and flat weaves starting at $159.
